Malankov will face Ngannou in a mixed martial art match. Earlier on the 9th of May, São Paulo, Brazil was supposed to host the event at the Ginásio do Ibirapuera arena. But due to the COVID-19, the event was postponed and is now being held on the 6th of June 2020. The venue of the event will be announced later but it will surely take place in the United States. The original date of the UFC 250 i.e. May 9 was indeed taken by UFC 249 and the UFC 250 is pushed to the 6th of June.
UFC 250 will also feature a bantamweight title challenge between Henry Cejudo and Jose Aldo.
Cejudo is the current champion. A former flyweight champion Cejudo is a freestyle wrestling gold medal winner in the 2008 Olympics. Jose Aldo is a former WEC and has won the UFC Featherweight championship twice. Aldo could probably have played at the 1st main card of the event. But Aldo canceled the event due to concerns of his visa, as the event was shifted to US. Dominick Cruz is expected to replace him; however, it is not yet been confirmed though.
The main event will also feature a match between Amanda Nunes and Felicia Spencer. The matchup will be for the UFC Women’s featherweight title. Nunes is the current champion of the UFC Women’s bantamweight. And Spencer is the former champion of the Invicta FC featherweight. On the 20th of April withdrew from the event that was to held on 9th May. She expressed that she desired to have a complete training camp.
Coronavirus Pandemic.
The arena that was earlier supposed to hold the UFC 250 in Sao Paulo, Brazil is actually being converted into a field hospital that will be used to treat the COVID-19 patients.
A lot of changes have been made to the schedule as many of the fighters will not be able to attend the event due to vise concerns. Hence Dana White who is the president of the UFC made the announcements on the night of April 9 that the beginning of the UFC 249 all the events will be postponed indefinitely.
