As we are a part of digital world, we all are dealing with variety of open-source softwares in our day-today life, such as operating systems, android softwares for chat and video streaming, VLC players, Mozilla firefox for browsing. In technical terms, if someone ask us what is open source software? Even though we are utilizing open source software, but still we are not able to define it. In this blog, we will discuss about open source, proprietary software with all its perk and how an open-source software motivates starter developer.

Open source softwares comes in the category of those softwares whose source code are freely available to anyone for performing their own modifications, redistribution. These software are becoming standard in world wide web and organisations. Their demands are increasingly day by day in mainstreams IT organisations.

Lets go towards proprietary software and how one can differentiate it with open source software.

proprietary softwares: These software are owned by a particular company. They does not permit anyone to duplicate or modify their code. Users need to pay if they want to use them.

The major difference between an open source software and proprietary software is their license. Users must have a licence in order to access proprietary software and they are strictly prohibited for modifications where as an open source software can permit modification and redistributions, Users are free to install it on any platform without need of paying a single penny. Due to these reasons, open source softwares are ideal for users.

Open-source softwares act as remarkable tools for the starter to start their career on the coding world. One can start their initial experiments on a open-source templates. If they join any open-source communities that will be more beneficial for them to learn.
