Coping with Chaos

I’m sorry.

I’m sorry for all of the chaos. I’m sorry for those in San Bernardino, California. I am sorry for those in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It pains me to see what one human would do to another human. How someone could do this, I will never know.

There have been 354 mass shootings this year. The sad part about this is there have been 337 days this year. There were five mass shootings in the United States on November 22 alone. Why? Why do people do this?

Why do some humans want to kill another human? It doesn’t make sense. I have read books and articles about how criminals think, but nothing gives them an excuse. No one can justify killing another human being in cold blood. It’s sickening.

There have been 161 policemen killed this year in the line of duty. I am sorry for them and their families. I am not saying this to get praise, I am saying this because it needs to be said: I paid for an IMPD Police Officer’s coffee this morning. I did it and told him that I respected him and that he was important. He gave me a thank you, he said that it meant a lot. We shook hands and he walked out. I would like to think this interaction made his day a little better.

Yes. Policemen make mistakes. I believe they should be accountable for those mistakes, but they shouldn’t be chastised for doing their job. The young man this morning was kind, caring and courteous to me because I showed him respect. We, as a society, typically don’t respect those men and women who put their lives on the line every day for us. So I am sorry.

This is important because I don’t want anyone reading this to make the same mistakes we see every day. My heart goes out to all of those killed or injured and to their families. They didn’t deserve what they received.

I am writing this to challenge readers to respect those around you. You can never respect someone too much. Those shooters, those killers, and those criminals don’t respect others. We all have God, so we all should respect those people and things He created. Treat others the way you want to be treated, because that is what God wants for us to do.

I’m sorry for this chaotic world.

Don’t bring more chaos, help prevent it. Love one another, respect one another and cherish one another. God loves every one of us, and it is up to us to keep His name close to our hearts and close to those around us.
