I can’t deny that an initial look at the week 3 slate makes you want to hit the snooze button and pick it up in week 4. For those of us willing to watch any game as long as it’s college football, let’s take a look at what we should keep an eye out for in week 3.

Of course, there are a couple of games that are worthy of watching. I would note LSU @ Mississippi State to be one to keep an eye on to see if Brian Kelly can get the Tigers on the right track. Tennessee travels to the swamp to play the Gators in what will be a fun environment to see if the Gators can keep up with the Vols. Lastly, South Carolina travels to Georgia and while the Gamecocks haven’t looked stellar so far, they have the potential to compete and give Georgia a rude awakening after the Bulldogs opened their season with two cupcakes.

Now hold on just a second. There are a few sleeper games that could end up being very fun to watch despite it not being ranked opponents.

First, BYU is on the road to play Arkansas in what will be a fascinating QB battle between Kedon Slovis and KJ Jefferson. With 9 touchdowns and only 1 interception between the two of them, I’m expecting plenty of points to be scored in this one that could come down to the final possession. This game will air at 6:30pm CT on ESPN2.

Second, Pittsburgh travels to West Virginia in primetime for the Backyard Brawl rivalry. Pitt leads the all-time series 62–40–3. However, the Mountaineers lead in the last 10 with a 6–4 record. West Virginia head coach Neal Brown is nearing his seat getting very hot and could use a big win over their rival. This game will air on ABC at 6:30pm CT.

Lastly, you can start your day of watching college football with Kansas State at Missouri. You’ll need to brew up for this 11:00am CT game on the SEC Network. Both teams are 2–0 but Kansas State is far better than Missouri’s first two opponents of South Dakota and Middle Tennessee State. While this game could get ugly early, it’s worth tuning in to see if the Tigers come ready to play.
