Introduction

Mike Cochran said it best in his opening paragraph of Texas vs. Davis, “As much as anything, the story of Cullen and Priscilla Davis is one of incongruity, coincidence, paradox, and fate — often cruelly so. It is a saga of love and hate and money and madness, a bewildering and terrifying drama with a haunting link of the month of August.” This is one of those “you can’t make this shit up” stories; way too crazy to be true. Except it is! And, unfortunately, this story has no justice for any of the numerous victims of Cullen Davis.

Cullen

Thomas “Cullen” Davis was the middle child of oil millionaire Ken Davis Sr. and Alice Davis. In 1968, Cullen began building his dream home — a $6 million, 19,000 square foot mansion on 181 acres, left to him and his brothers, Ken Jr. and Bill. Basically, he was a spoiled rich boy. I decided not to spend too much time on Cullen’s childhood because he had a pretty normal upbringing.
