The AI Today podcast recently sat down with James Barrat, author of “Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era‎” for a podcast interview to discuss James’ book and thoughts on the subject of AI. Barrat discusses why he wrote the book 3 years ago now, how far away he really thinks we are from artificial human intelligence, the warning bells recently being sounded about artificial intelligence, and why he thinks there will not be another AI winter. Below is an excerpt from the interview.

As we are reaching the end of 2017 we wanted to reflect back at predictions made earlier in the year around artificial intelligence (AI) and see which ones came true and which ones are still in the far future. AI Today interviewed Oliver Christie and discussed his 5 predictions for artificial intelligence in 2017. Below is an excerpt of the interview. Check out the full podcast and transcript on the Cognilytica site.

AI Today: We’d like to start by you introducing yourself and telling us a little bit about the things that you’re doing in the field of AI.

In order to get a better idea of what exactly AI is, what it can and cannot do, and where it’s headed Cognilytica has come up with a list of our favorite podcasts on AI and machine learning.
