2016: The Year of Creation

While I already maintain a blog over at my fitness and nutrition site, veganpowertraining.com, my goal for 2016 is to begin blogging about anything and everything I believe is important for me, and worth sharing on the internet. This could be my thoughts on current events, books I’ve read, parenthood, reactions/responses to articles I’ve read, whatever. For most of my life, I have passionately taken in information, wanting to know everything about everything that is entertaining, useful, challenging, profound, and so on. However, while it’s great to have an inquisitive mind, I feel that for so long, I’ve been living inside of my head, and not putting this information I’ve learned, or opinions I’ve formed, out into the world. Essentially, I’ve been sitting on the sidelines, wanting to get into “The Game,” without having the courage to do so.

So this brings me back to my title, “2016: The Year of Creation,” which means this year I will spend more time “doing” in many avenues of my life (academically, parenthood, writing, etc.), rather than merely consuming and waiting for “That Day” where I have all of the information that has ever existed before entering the important (or trivial) conversations I wish to engage in. In the past, I told myself, “Once I get ‘X’ certificate/degree, THEN I can talk about ‘Y.’” However, I now understand that learning is an unending process, and that I can share what I know now in order to both help others, and receive feedback in order to gain a deeper understanding of a topic, or be corrected where I am wrong.

So, here, in 2016, while I will continue to take things in, I will now contribute to the world around me in a meaningful way, and encourage you to do the same.
