John Middlemas, a WWII vet, is one of America’s most unexpected individual to participate in the take a knee movement that originated in the NFL. Middlemas does not view this form of protest as an unpatriotic act. “I am and forever will be an American citizen and grateful to be here, but my kneeling is what’s getting the attention, and I’m kneeling for the people who don’t have a voice,” Middlemas explains.

Trump ignores Puerto Rico’s devastation to tweet about the NFL

After succumbing to the devastating winds of Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Irma, Puerto Rico is suffering severely. The leaders of this U.S. territory have reached out for help during this time; however, President Trump has been otherwise preoccupied. Instead of addressing the needs of Puerto Rico, Trump has found it more urgent to spend his time insulting the NFL and NBA for their protesting.

Republicans fail again to kill off Obamacare in Senate

Once again, Republicans have failed to repeal the 2010 Affordable Care Act that was administered during the Obama administration. The senators in agreement with the replacement have promised to continue to attempt change in America’s health care system. However, this is yet another disappointment for Trump and the republican party’s agenda.
