Product Update — Improved Payment Management
Cryptocurrencies have made it possible for anyone anywhere in the world to quickly start accepting payments online. Coinbase Commerce is a free non-custodial solution for accepting cryptocurrencies and over the next few months we’ll be shipping new features to help cryptocurrencies succeed as currencies.
We recently shipped a few new features to make payment management a much easier and more intuitive experience for merchants.
Payment statuses
We’re now surfacing the status of a payment next to the payment code. Unlike credit cards, cryptocurrencies are push payments processed by a decentralized network of computers. We’re constantly monitoring the network and when consensus is reached on the status of a payment we immediately reflect that within the dashboard.
Payment details
Need more details on a payment? Simply click on a payment to see exactly what happened. We surface relevant customer information if any was collected along with the exchange rate at the time of payment. What’s more we also display a detailed timeline…more on that below!
Payment timelines
With payment timelines you can now see the exact sequence of events that occurred with a payment. Need even more info? Just follow the link out to a block explorer.
Upcoming changes
We’ll be shipping even more features to simplify payment management including search and improved receipts so customers and merchants have a single source of truth. We’re working hard on building withdrawal and refund features so you can withdraw and refund customers directly within Coinbase Commerce; no third-party wallet needed. And what’s more, we’re building shopping cart plugins for popular e-commerce platforms so you can start accepting cryptocurrency in just a few minutes.
