This weekend I will start my first hackathon. To be honest, I haven’t heard a whole lot about hackathons prior to this one. After hearing about the details of it, I’m feeling pretty excited and ready to begin. There’s a somewhat exhilarating feeling to start such an open ended project.
There are several goals we hope to accomplish by the end of this project. The first is to complete a finished product. The next hope is to learn something new. While it’s great to learn new concepts and programs, I want to make sure I’m able to complete the project on time.
My group has settled on a project idea. We want to create an app that will allow the customer to manage daily tasks. This will require a backend framework, database, and a front end ui to display the application. We want to learn bootstrap for the front end. I would be ecstatic if we could finish the hackathon with a fully functional, good looking application.
The hackathon will be a great way to show off my new skills. We will be presenting our applications to each other at the end. I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone in the cohort creates. There are some incredibly creative people in this class and I have no doubt that many of these apps will be innovative and interesting.
