The Copenhagen Story
Copenhagen is a very special place, and we wanted to make sure our attendees experience the best of what the city has to offer!
We’ve asked our advisory board what they love the most about Copenhagen and what is not to miss. “It is hard to just give you one part that I love. I think it is the package that I love about Copenhagen.” — Kenneth Christiansen

Traditionally Danish
Winter in Copenhagen doesn’t have to be such a burden. It wouldn’t be ColdFront without at little bit of colder temps now would it? Be sure to partake in the tradition of a hot sauna and then a cold dip! Winter swimming is quite popular among the Danes in the winter.
Candles, candles, candles! No matter what time of day, you’ll see candles lit all across the city. “I have more that is appropriate in my tiny apartment in New York now.” — Jessica Lord
Hygge! What is it? Well, it translates to “coziness,” but it tends to be something more that you will have to experience yourself.
The Food
One of the most important parts of your visit to Copenhagen! How about grabbing some good frikadeller (Danish meatballs), a slice of Flæskesteg (Danish roast pork), or even a proper Danish hot dog.
After partaking in your winter dip, follow it up with a traditional smørrebrød med øl og snaps (open sandwich with beer and snaps!) Grab a kartoffelmad piled high with potatoes, chives, and bacon! YUM.

And why not step outside the box and have a little food adventure! “I stopped in a small beach cafe one particularly cold March morning and asked for the most expensive thing on the menu: the steak. The owner must have been surprised that someone finally ordered this item. He delivered it with much fanfare and a bottle of beer. That steak was tough and full of gristle, but it had such flavor — the flavor of a cow that I like to imagine had roamed the fjords for years before meeting its end. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had.” — Rachel Nabors
Things to Do and See
Head down to the Christianshavn district which is full of old school bodegas, fancy restaurants, and delightful 19th century architecture. Stop and have a glass of wine at Skt. Annæ 8.

Feeling ecological? If it’s not too cold out, feel free to help out with the cleaning of the canals and get yourself a free kayak from The Green Kayak.
Biking! The Danes are all about the bikes and getting around town via bicycle. Rental shops are a dime a dozen, and you’ll find your way around Copenhagen in no time!

“Walk around the 4 lakes in the inner city any time of the year. Gives you that feeling of open space while still being in the city center. Always people to watch.” — Ulrik Bech Hald
According to Mikkel Rasmussen, the new place to check out is Refshaleøen which is an area that used to be a large shipyard. While in that area, be sure to check out Mikkel’s favorite bar, Labanchinacph, his favorite bakery Lille Bakery, and the Reffen Food Court full of Copenhagen Street Food.
Are you ready to join in on the fun? Eat some delicious Danish food and get your hygge on? YES, us too!
