Hockey On The South Side?
Living in the lower mainland, there are no shortages of great hockey team to watch on television. The Vancouver Canucks are definitely the most well known out of all of them, but going across the Fraser River and then paying absurd ticket prices for what really isn’t the best bang for your buck isn’t ideal. So instead of going out of your way to pay for parking, your tickets, then outrageous prices. There are 2 quality hockey teams to watch if you need to get your fix, and both don’t take you over any of the bridges during rush hour…
If you’re willing to spend, the Vancouver Giants of the WHL is a quality option. Located in Langley, the Langley Events Centre isn’t too far out of the way to get too, and offers a quality hockey environment. The Giants are sitting 3rd in their division, and provide a fun family atmosphere. With adult tickets starting just over $23 dollars and a cool White Spot Family pass for $104, a drive out to Langley is well worth the gas money.
However, there’s another quality option that supports local young stars. In the BCHL, the Surrey Eagles play out of the South Surrey Arena in Surrey, British Columbia. The Eagles have been really turning the corner with excellent performances from former Vancouver Giant John Wesley and Ty Westguard, the Eagles are soaring high this year, and include a ton of friendly opportunities for the kids. In addition to great hockey, if you come out on Sundays, you and your kids can skate with the players, which give the young ones a great opportunity to skate with players and grow their interest in the game.
So whether you’re driving up 200th street or down 152nd to South Surrey Athletic park, hockey lovers south of the Fraser River have quality options to visit and enjoy Canada’s game.
