I’m still waiting to see these “baddie aesthetic” girls of the interwebs on the street. Do y’all take off the nails and the rings and the makeup when the selfies finish? How nice would it be for the women who inspired this look to have the same privilege. The Cholas of LA, the Mamis of Spanish Harlem, the Black Girls of the Bronx, inspire style internationally but are still called ghetto (oh pardon me it’s 2016, I mean ratchet). Their authentic style plus their skin is too much, it must be watered down so that it is without origin and thus becomes like a creation myth, free for use by any and all.
