I only was in Rome for a couple of days but here are some thoughts.

  1. Espresso: it’s cheap and delicious. The quality always meets a certain mark and there are no frills. Order your espresso from the cashier, show your receipt, and finish your espresso all within a few minutes.
  2. Water: free water everywhere. The nasone fountains provide delicious water from ancient Roman aqueducts all over the city.
  3. Long meals: people take their time when dining and it makes for a really enjoyable experience. My rule is no cell phones during meals and this makes for great conversations with my wife. There is something very therapeutic about the whole thing.
