~ Living my life as if ~

Living my life as if
I never knew you, not.
Living my life as if
The stinging shots never landed,
Day after bloody day,
year after bloody year.

Living my life as if
The soul-crunching pain
Was merely the path
to the phoenix gloriously rising

Living my life as if
whatever debt was due
for merely living was, at last,
paid in full. All accounts paid.

Living my life as if
The sun will indeed rise tomorrow
The tides will ebb and flow
The immortal winds of change
and time will heal.

Living my life as if
My pain is a stinging salve
with whom I share my story,
their story, our story.

Living my life as if
The long dark nights
were only preludes to glorious days,
and faith that the strongest metal
is wrought in the fiercest conditions.

Living my life as if
I not only withstood the fire of rendering,
I rise like a phoenix,
undaunted, unequaled, and nonplussed.

Living my life as if
I acknowledge that tomorrow
is not a fact, only a promise
born of faith, temerity, and undying hope,
The eternal flame of hope,
the light upon my path.

Living my life as if
The light at the end of the tunnel
is not a freight train.
It is the white-hot flame of
strength, and hope, and dreams undaunted.

The dreams come.
The dreams go.
Memory serves,
and sometimes, blessedly, fails.

Living my life as if
Dreams are seeds of truth, unaltered.
Love is a river that needs to flow,
outward and in.
Strength is a virtue and a friend,
never a sin.

Living my life as if
You do not get to define it.
You do not get to define me.
Only I can do that,
and do, and will.

Living my life as if
this is my life,
my journey,
my strength,
my testament.

Living my life as if
I deserve the joy and peace
that I fiercely claim
For me and all
that know and share my scars.

Living My Life, Loving My Life, Loving Me
