I have heard something similar (perhaps more radical) than your thesis from a friend of mine and he may have gotten it from the same place. Basically by constantly increasing the amount of credentialing you need to get a job, employers can always have their pick of employees without ever paying for training or education themselves. Sending the unemployed back to school and saying it’s their own fault for not getting the right/enough degrees and/or putting them in jail is a great way to keep them from rioting in the streets. People who feel guilty for not being good enough and are punished by society for it will be desperate to take whatever the employer gives them.

Anyway, yeah! Fight the System!
