What Happens When You Pay Your Employees Enough to Become Financially Secure?

I think at least part of it is that the kind of people who get those kinds of jobs tend to be workaholics who then get burnt out. Tech work culture is really hard on people. Plus, if you have the right talents to get that kind of job, you can quit without worrying you’ll never get a job again or that people will look down on you for being unemployed.

Honestly, if you gave me $200,000 after-tax income I would quit my current job tomorrow (or ask to go part-time), but only to spend time doing some $$ certification I’ve been wanting to do to switch careers. I wouldn’t feel secure living off investment income given the current housing bubble in Canadian cities and market volatility due to certain presidents.
