Pros and Cons of Hiring an Outsourced IT Specialist

For many large companies, outsourcing computer service and support have become commonplace. This subject, however, is a more current concern among SME owners. Companies attracted by the outsourcing of their IT must, however, be careful not to lose complete control of their business.

Reducing costs while increasing profits

In an increasingly tense economic environment, small business owners are progressively tempted to reduce their fees and change their IT infrastructure by outsourcing its computer service needs. This is due to the company being worried about the high cost of these types of activities. This concern also affects companies around the world.

According to a survey conducted by Baylor University, most companies pay an average of $45,000 for external IT needs and about $75,000 for an internal specialist. Small businesses are the most affected by IT issues. Therefore, they are usually the ones that need IT services the most. It must be said that, in the financial sector, a special effort is required because of the directives to be observed which are always more restrictive.

Three variants of outsourcing

There is a need to differentiate between three forms of outsourcing, namely local outsourcing, which can be done in the very premises of the company, nearshore in a nearby country, or at least geographically close to the company, and offshore in a distant country. Offshore outsourcing is about outsourcing the development and maintenance of applications. This is a way for companies to provide a cost-effective response, but there is also the need to industrialize their IT.

It must be said, however, that this is something that must be thought out well in advance. For those who do not want to make this type of leap, find a company that offers an outsourcing platform located in a nearby country. But, for SMEs, outsourcing solutions require significant formalization efforts.

For these instances, there are simpler solutions. IT companies should offer front-end service locally first and then global services next. As for local outsourcing, make sure you hire professionals with a history of providing a valuable service.

Remember, this field also includes operating systems and their evolutionary development. Hiring the right company takes time, so do not be hasty in your decision.
