Size Matters

This class may have been my most difficult class that I have taken yet. Although it was very interesting and I gained a lot of knowledge and important information that can be used in all media for the web.

The this whole process I created a guide per say that showed my experimentation/findings of the compression process of different file types. The most important thing that I found was that when compressing a file it is so crucial that when making the file size smaller that it alters the physical look of the image or video.

So I feel that was the whole point of the project was to experiment and find the “sweet-spot” to where you can get a smaller file size but also keep an acceptable quality of the image or video.

I really enjoyed the experimenting portion of the assignment. Prof. Harper really forced us to test the bounds of the programs to see if we could “break” them. You will see that during the testing we went down the very pixel to see how the image or video changed when the file was compressed. It was good practice for the future and I really learned the best ways to compress files and which compression’s work with the differing file types.
