Stories told through varying Mediums

Technology has opened many doors to telling stories. All books are becoming digital. One can read or listen to pretty much any digitalized work whether it be a novel, a children’s book, or even a cookbook. Many of these stories can become more interactive when show through a mobile device.

The first link below is an audiobook that I was able to recreate the cover to help it become more appealing to the audience that I was trying to attract. We also were introduced to Audiobook Builder where I compiled all of the files into on creating the full audio experience with corresponding chapter covers.

For this second one I dealt with the actual text of the book. I created a new cover for this novel as well. This project widened my knowledge of the capabilities of iBooks Author. I was able to pick a template as to how I would lay out the text and the chapter headings and I also added touch points within the text to give the reader more information. This is something that obviously can’t be done in a regular paper book so I find that style of reading very cool because the information is so readily available.

The final project for this course was a group project. In this project we could add all of the elements that we had learned into an Ibook of our choice. After much brainstorming my group decided to create a cookbook. We wanted to make it very visual. Maybe because were were hungry at the time but who knows. We were able to retrieve the recipes and images easily we just needed to add all the interactive elements. We decided to use Hype to assist our user experience so that when the user was completed with the meal they could see the nutritional value and also add comments or rate the recipe. We tried to make the book entertaining to really liven the user experience. And I think we created a good visually looking cookbook that was informative and fun.
