There’s no “i” in team but if you look hard there’s “me.”
To explain the title of this case study, it may come across as a selfish phrase but what I meant by it was that in this course we had the opportunity to create two different projects. One project was with a group or team (hence team in the title). And then we also created a web app as separate individuals.
The first project was the group project. We had the opportunity to meet with a client. The client was a part of a non-profit organization called “Kindness for the World.” We asked many varying questions to see what exactly the client was looking for. Questions from what colors they would like, to certain themes or looks.
We then came together as a group and started to create sketches as to how we thought it might look. After plenty of sketches and a lot of brainstorming we came up with the look that you can see in the link below. This link with take you to the prototype for the desktop web version. Feel free to give it a look.
We then each had the opportunity to create our own web app. We all brainstormed together as to what type of app we would all create, and then we took all similar/basic info to include and each designed our own version of the app.
The app that I created was called “Gather.” This app is a social app so that individuals that are looking for something to do are able to post and also discover what is going on in the area around them. People can view events and show that they are interested. Then the individual who created the post may select and message who they would like to go with, within in the app.
It has similar features to that of Tinder, the app. These are things like setting age ranges, distance, and even the type event they would like to see. Creating this app was a great experience because it was an app that not only would I use myself, but also everyone my age would find an interest in it. Also, a part of the assignment was to gather information from different people and ask their thoughts on the idea and also what they would like to see in the app. This really helped with the direction that I wanted to take the app and what thinks I added. Below is the link to the prototype. Click and it will take you to the Gather experience.
