Inner Geek has been around for about 8 months now and we’ve grown to 12 employees. We build awesome mobile and web solutions, and our clients love us, but we still technically haven’t launched our company. We’ve been looking for a creative way to do this, and a development sprint seems like the perfect opportunity to do just that.
- We’ve got 5 days to build as much of our site as possible. Bug fixes and feature improvements may come later; we’ll see how far we get.
- This isn’t going to be a hack job. We’ll be using scalable server architectures, coding practices, and web technologies.
- We’re not going to work ridiculous hours; that’s not smart. Our web team will be working Monday through Friday, from about 9-6.
Sure, there’s a chance that this could go horribly, embarrassingly wrong. We might get to day 3 and realize there’s no way it’s getting done by the end of the week. We might hit a technological roadblock and realize that this crazy plan of ours isn’t even possible. We might fail. But so what?
The purpose of this challenge is to take risks, to see what is possible, and to prove to ourselves and others that the industry deserves more.
Now it’s your turn. For this to make an impact in our community and industry, we need people to pay attention. We’re going to be doing the heavy lifting. Just follow along and tell your friends.
Starting Monday, we’ll be doing three deployments every day at 12, 3, and 6.
The countdown is already on at www.innergeek.co. Go check it out.
