Seven Places to grab a beer around Campus

So you’re just getting off work or out of school and you really want a beer, but maybe you don’t want to head all the way up to one of the famous breweries. Fort Collins has plenty of great breweries, but they aren’t particularly close to campus. Almost everywhere you go is probably going to have the same beers, so your decision really comes down to location. In no particular order, here are seven convenient places to grab a beer around campus.

  1. The Boot Grill

Located on the corner of Laurel and Mason just north of campus, The Boot is a great place to head and grab a drink after a long day. The Boot has a large rooftop seating area that makes for a great way to kill an afternoon in the spring, summer, and fall. Head on over on a Friday and Saturday night to catch some live music while you enjoy a cold one.

2) The Mayor of Old Town

Located just north of Laurel on Mason street, The Mayor of Old Town boasts 100 beers on tap and one of the better names for a bar in Fort Collins. While The Mayor of Old Town may not have live music, that might be just what you’re looking for. The Mayor is the perfect place to try a new beer or grab a pint of one of your favorites.

3) Mo Jeaux’s Bar & Grill

Mo Jeaux’s is a great place to grab a casual beer with your friends. Located just north of west Elizabeth on City Park avenue, Mo Jeaux’s is a great place to grab a pint of your favorite beer, catch whatever sporting event may be on T.V. and shoot some pool.

4) Fuzzy’s Taco Shop

Fuzzy’s provides a fun atmosphere to have a nice beer after a long day of work or school. Stop by on a Tuesday night, share a pitcher with your friends and try your hand at some trivia where you have a shot at winning free beer! If you get a little hungry, Fuzzy’s has some great food as well.

5) CooperSmith’s Pub & Brewing

Located in the heart of Old Town Square, CooperSmith’s is a great place to grab a bite to eat, try a beer brewed in house, and shoot some pool. Sit on the patio right along Mountain Avenue and soak in the sun on a warm day, or head on into the building and check out some of the brewing equipment. CooperSmith’s boast one of the better locations on the list.

6) Road 34

Road is a “biker bar”, but probably not the biker bar you’re familiar with. Located on west Elizabeth, Road 34 is both a bar as well as a bicycle shop. There are plenty of places to sit down and comfortably enjoy a drink with your friends while you check out some of the bikes that hang from the ceiling. If you don’t feel like sitting, get up and check out the VW van inside the bar, or play one of the many games Road offers.

7) Lucky Joe’s Sidewalk Saloon

Another bar located right in the heart of Old Town Square, Lucky Joe’s boasts one of the best patios on the list. Sit outside and enjoy a cold beer on their patio right in the middle of Old Town. If it’s too cold to sit outside, head inside and munch on some free peanuts, grab your favorite beer and listen to some live music.
