Thirsty Thursday — 8 Featured Breweries

Every Thursday until Columbus Craft Beerfest 2017 we’re featuring 8 breweries that will be present at the festival. We’re really excited about our line up this year! Check them out.

- Junk Ditch Brewing Company — the team behind Affine Food Truck and GK Baked Goods — brings craft beer and creative food to the west end of Main Street. Located in the old Korte Paper Company warehouse, Junk Ditch Brewing Company delivers a casual, but refined experience using ingredients from the backyard and farther. With an “everything from scratch” philosophy and a passion for hospitality, Andrew Smith, Dan Campbell and Jack May invite you to experience Junk Ditch Brewing Company.

2. Mad Anthony — In 1998, after three years of planning, Todd Grantham and Blaine Stuckey, old friends with similar interests decided to turn passion into vocation. Grantham had been brewing for more than half a decade while Stuckey had been piling up restaurant experience. When they teamed up with menu guru Jeff Neels, director of restaurant operations, in 1999, the trio had all the pieces to create a truly unique brewing/dining experience. Together they bought Fort Wayne’s Munchie Emporium with the goal of creating a brew house. These days, Mad Anthony will brew more than 2,500 barrels of beer annually from the tanks located on-site. From the very beginning, Mad Anthony was anything but normal. Steeped in the fun-loving tradition that had been established at the corner of Broadway and Taylor the city’s first microbrews were welcomed by friends, customers, and beer lovers throughout northern Indiana. From Olde Fort Blonde Lager to Good Karma IPA to seasonals like Summer Daze and Snowplowed Winter Ale, Mad Anthony is known for having something on tap for every beer lover. When coupled with signature tastes like the Politician Pizza or Scooby Snacks, the stage was set for customers that came away satisfied by more than the beer. Today, Mad Anthony boasts four locations in downtown Indiana settings. All are places where good friends can come together over great food, and of course, satisfying, locally-brewed beer.

3. New Albanian Brewing Company started brewing fresh, flavorful, award-winning beers in 2002, becoming New Albany’s first working brewery since 1935. Their original “R ’n’ D” brewery can be viewed from the pizzeria’s dining room. Brewer Ben Minton brews seasonal recipes, specialties, one-off batches and tasty research experiments. Their main production brewery opened in 2009 and is located in the heart of downtown New Albany at 415 Bank Street. At NABC Cafe & Brewhouse, Josh Hill — Head of Brewing Operations — and team brew, keg, and bottle NABC’s biggest sellers and seasonals for both on-premise consumption and local distribution. Those at NABC are longtime lovers of beer, food and pub culture. They live and love their working lives, and when you stop by, they hope you enjoy our world as much as they do.

4. Metazoa Brewing Co. is a craft brewery in the heart of Indianapolis that donates 5% of its profits to animal and wildlife organizations. Offerings range from true-to-style traditional ales to quirky, experimental styles big on flavor.

5. New Corner Brewing — As Muncie’s local brewery, they hand-craft fresh beer for some of the most passionate, knowledgeable and discerning craft-beer drinkers anywhere. They are proud to be part of such a rich, local tradition, and our mission is to supply locally-brewed, unique beers to some of the best taverns and pubs in the state (or Midwest). Just as enjoying great beers is done best in community, responsibly with friends, they also believe that brewing that beer should be done in relationship with you, their customer. Drop us a note to let us know what you think about New Corner beers, ask a question, arrange a brewery tour, or tell them what you’d like to see brewed next! They’re always happy to meet our customers, and if you come by the brewery, you can also purchase a 64oz growler!

6. Point Blank Brewing Company is an independently owned restaurant and microbrewery located in the historic downtown area of Corydon, Indiana. Featuring wood-fired, brick oven pizzas, pub food and many other options, Point Blank Brewing Company has something for everyone. Check out the menu link above to see the fare currently available. Daily lunch and dinner specials are also featured. Point Blank Brewing Company has over 100 bottled craft beer selections available with an ever changing draft line-up. Their brewhouse is a steam-fired, 10 bbl system where we have brewed a variety of styles since 2014.

7. Pokro Brewing Company is a family-owned microbrewery specializing in Belgian, English, and other European style beers brewed by Joe Pokropinski. You will often find our brew master visiting with customers in the tasting rooms, talking about his beer. Joe began home brewing over 19 years ago, and his hobby quickly became an obsession! Joe’s years of brewing experience, combined with his wife, Robyn’s, business degrees and experience, led to the creation of Pokro Brewing Company. The name was derived from Joe’s nickname in high school: Pokro, which is the shortened version of his last name of Pokropinski

8. Powerhouse Brewing Co. originally opened in 1939 as The Columbus Bar. It is one of Indiana’s oldest continually operating restaurant/bars, and Columbus, Indiana’s first brewery since the Civil War. In addition to their own craft brewed beers they offer several “guest taps” of great craft and imported beers from around the globe and close to home. Menu items are prepared fresh to order with many ingredients procured locally and made in house.
