Four New Members of Miami University-Hamilton’s Student Government

HAMILTON, OH Yusef Museitif, Emma Wilms Patrick Kelley and Jennifer Shelton were sworn in as new associates in Miami University Hamilton’s Student Government Association (SGA).

Miami University Hamilton’s SGA are representatives but have no voting authority within the student body.

SGA appointed Ramata Domboya, Alain Oyeh and Quinton Couch as new representatives of the Miami University Senate Committee following the absence of graduating students Shan Quereshi and Jeff Gambrell.

The Senate Committee canceled their February 16th meeting. There is no information on why the meeting was canceled but their next meeting is scheduled for March 2nd, 3:35 pm at Room 111, Harrison Hall, Oxford Campus according to its official webpage.

The University Senate is a governing body consisting of students, faculty members and staff who debate issues concerning Miami University. For more information visit the University Senate homepage.

Project Civility-Miami University Hamilton’s student organization that promotes diversity and civility throughout the campus- meeting is scheduled for Feb 20th, 2:30 pm at the 1968 Room, Miami University-Hamilton campus.

Miami University’s regional Campus Dean of Student Affairs, Robert Rusbosin cited a Miami Student opinion article, where a student said “there is a large part of me that likes this tiny campus better than Oxford’s”.

“Finally this campus gets some recognition” said SGA Student Representative Mitch Griffin. Griffin added that he was surprised that an Oxford student enjoyed their time at the Hamilton campus.

“It is 100% accurate” said SGA Web Coordinator Adam Rieth in response to the Student’s article.

Members of SGA’s Media Committee met afterwards to discuss suggestions to improve their out reach to students and other student organizations. Ian McCoy SGA’s Media Commitee Chairman, suggested the new committe acts as a media representative to all student organizations.

The media committee plans to use Facebook, Twitter and possibly video blogging to improve SGA’s outreach to other student organizations.

SGA meets every Friday 3pm in Seminar One, Wilks Conference Center Miami University-Hamilton.
