Dark Galaxies have introduced a new development to the game called the merit system. It has been introduced in the mining section of the game primarily but will be tweaked over time to encourage, and reward, interaction with all parts of the game.

Each mining attempt sees the planet owner gain 1 merit point, with points being tradable at the merit shop. As the game develops we will begin to see points awarded for other actions such as exploring and battling.

For the moment, the shop only contains fuel packs but over time we will see other purchase options available. The fuel packs can be purchased for 24 merit points plus a 1 wax fee for the transaction cost. We will of course continue to see new developments to the system but it is a great addition to the game and should encourage activity.

Regarding how this affects mining, I would like to see it tweaked further to benefit the end user if they aren't a planet owner. However, planet owners should now be mining as the new merit system certainly makes things more profitable for them.

If you have a deck made up of tools with 24 charges, the merit points literally pay for the fuel for the rig, minus your 1 wax transaction cost of course. There will of course be tweaks going forward but for now it certainly has a bonus. I am running 19 full rigs, containing 3 tools and a manager, and I also use a booster so doing pretty well in terms of DTF production.

On another note, I will be starting to stream soon and doing giveaways, so keep an eye out for any announcements that might help you get started on your intergalactic adventure.
