Are you a fan of comic books? Then get ready for an exciting year of new releases and must-read titles in 2023! With so many fantastic comics hitting the shelves, it can be tough to know where to start. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the top 10 comics you simply can’t miss this year. From superheroes to indie darlings, there’s something for everyone on this list. So buckle up, grab your reading glasses, and get ready to discover the best comics of 2023.

ARCA

Take a look at this premise: The world has been engulfed in flames, but a select group of wealthy elites have concocted a plan to save themselves. They’ve built a rocket aimed at a habitable planet, complete with all the luxuries of their former lives on Earth. They’ve enlisted teenagers to serve as their slaves in exchange for the promise of a new life. It’s a gripping story, but like many tales, it’s purely fictional. If you’re a fan of Jesse Lonergan’s mind-bending comics, like Faster and Planet Paradise, or his partnership with Van Jensen on the Don’t Look Up sequel, you won’t want to miss Acra, coming from IDW Publishing in July.

You can pre-order here.

NIGHT FEVER

Night Fever, promises to be a departure from their previous offerings. We recall how they went a little strange with Fatale, which happens to be our all-time favorite from them. Therefore, we’re eager to see what Night Fever has in store. It seems to be another crime tale with a hint of madness thrown in.

AGE OF CHIMERA

This is maybe the most interesting entry in our list and can quickly be described as “Mad Max X Planet of the Apes”. Age of Chimera is set in a post apocalyptic world where humans have been wiped out completely and new forms of life are on the rise. Hybrid Creatures, called Chimeras fight for a new world order. In the first Editions you follow the story of a tribe of Leopard-Apes, deadly hunters yet highly intelligent. 4 more Editions are currently under development following different species.

The real novelty here is that this first edition will be limited to 1,000 copies, each of them telling a slightly different story making each comic unique. Each copy is sold as an NFT, so holders can either read the digital copy or burn their respective NFT to receive the hard cover version of their 1st Edition.

You can learn more about this hidden Gem on their website.

SUPERBOY: THE MAN OF TOMORROW

Here’s another exciting release from the “Dawn of DC” comics lineup. This particular series shines a spotlight on Conner Kent, who has been struggling to find his place since Jon Kent’s emergence. To discover where he truly belongs, Conner sets off on a journey away from Earth in this highly-anticipated new series.

I AM STAN

I Am Stan” is slated for release in the fall, and fans can get a sneak peek of the book with a Free Comic Book Day preview, courtesy of Ten Speed Press.

Stan Lee remains a controversial figure, and his legacy has been a topic of discussion among many in the comic book industry, including Tom Brevoort, Alex Ross, Abraham Riesman, and Tom Scioli. Lee’s impact on the medium cannot be denied, and his influence can be seen in works like “Comic Book Couples Counseling.” Tom Scioli has spent a significant amount of time examining Lee’s life and influence, and we’re excited to see his unique perspective in “I Am Stan.
