Announcing the Launch of Common.Fund

We’re happy to announce the launch of Common.Fund today,
January 13th, 2021!

Common.Fund is a non-custodial crowdfunding platform, very similar to Indiegogo and Kickstarter, with our unique twist being that at our core we’re smart-contract driven. What’s interesting about our approach is that as a result, by default, we as a platform never directly ever touch any of the campaign funds raised. This also substantially mitigates risk for all parties involved.

Instead, any campaign that launches on Common.Fund will be entirely managed through auditable smart contracts that manage the fundraising campaign in escrow via a completely transparent and decentralized manner.

The vision of Common.Fund is to be a platform where projects are able to raise the support they need to bring forth wonderful ideas and initiatives into the world through decentralized cryptocurrencies. This way, projects can garner support from anyone from anywhere in the world. It is our hope that we can become a platform to help projects organize their early global communities in order to bootstrap the resources they need to achieve product-market-fit and positively alter the course of the world!

We chose to launch on NEAR Protocol, because from their early days their researchers and developers built their chain with usability in mind. This means transactions must be fast, secure, and cheap — all things NEAR Protocol achieves. Their documentation and developer ecosystem allowed us to launch our smart contracts on NEAR with relative ease allowing us to go-to-market faster. It is our goal to fully decentralize Common.Fund in the years to come.

We are currently seeking 3 more campaigns that would like to launch on Common.Fund from the NEAR community before the end of February. Please reach out to us on Twitter if you’re interested to launch a campaign that will be funded in the NEAR Token: https://twitter.com/common_fund
