What is a Wifi Heat Map?

A Wi-Fi heatmap is a visual representation of the wireless signal coverage and strength. Wi-Fi heatmaps are generally overlaid on top of a building or facility floorplan to help give network owners a clear idea of where problem areas are located in relation to the collected survey data.

If your organization is operating a facility with multiple wifi access points, and dealing with shortfalls in coverage or planning an expansion or to upgrade wifi technology, now is the time to complete a comprehensive wifi survey and audit, also known as a wifi heatmap. Using specialized survey software our wifi surveyors will produce a comprehensive report showing the following overlaid on top of your facility/office floorplan:

  • Heatmap/Coverage
  • Signal overlap
  • Signal-to-noise ratio
  • AP physical density
  • Speedtest (up/down)
  • Updated floor plan with AP locations marked

With these results, we will be able to make recommendations, in consultation with your IT team, as to the number of access points that need to be added or removed, along with recommendations on the need to upgrade access point (AP) technology. Following analysis of survey results, we can prepare a proposal to run cables, procure and mount access points as needed. Contact Computation to schedule a professional wifi setup and wifi survey.

In addition to wifi setup, our network team tests, certifies, labels and organizes the cabling which supports your wifi access points. We can assess your PoE system to ensure that you have adequate power distribution to the APs, and make recommendations to remedy any shortfalls. Finally, we can ensure that patch cabling is organized, and that your rack or cabinet, and the devices in them, are properly ventilated and supported by back up power.
