Summer Internships in Natural Language Processing, University of South California (Marina del Rey, US)

A three-month internship for undergraduate and graduate students in natural language processing, machine learning, statistical modelling, machine translation, creative language generation, and other areas.

Available projects: Low Resource Neural Machine Translation; Creative Dialogue; Commonsense Reasoning; Information Extraction; Robust Interlingual Representation; Meta-Learning for Cross-Lingual Model Transfer; Understanding event processes; Open book question answering.

A scholarship is provided.

CERN Summer Student Programme 2022 (Geneva, Switzerland)

An internship for undergraduate and graduate students in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics (with at least three years of full-time studies completed by summer 2022).

Over a period of 8 to 13 weeks, the intern works on an advanced technical project in an experimental or engineering team. They will be able to attend a series of lectures from experts and scientists who share their knowledge of particle physics, engineering and computing. Visits to the CERN facilities, as well as discussion sessions and workshops, are also key features of the programme.

A scholarship for living expenses is provided.

CERN openlab Summer Student Programme (Geneva, Switzerland)

Another CERN internship for undergraduate (3–4 years of study) and graduate students with strong background and experience in computer science.

During June — August 2020, the students will work on an advanced IT project and will be given a series of IT lectures. They also have the opportunity to attend the main CERN Summer student programme lectures, if they wish.

A scholarship for living expenses is provided, travel expenses are also covered.

CERN Short Term Internship (Geneva, Switzerland)

Yet another internship for undergraduate students in the world’s largest particle physics research centre. The internship’s duration is one to six months.

Research areas: applied physics, computing, mathematics, electricity, electronics, mechanical or civil engineering, instrumentation, materials science, radiation protection, safety and environmental protection, surveying, ultra-high vacuum, scientific communication.

A scholarship for living expenses is provided.

Applications are accepted annually until the close of vacancy in October.

ETH Robotics Student Fellowship (Zurich, Switzerland)

An internship in robotics for the first-year graduate students. Takes place from 1 July till 31 August.

The following labs are available for the internship: Vision for Robotics Lab, Computational Robotics Lab, Emilio Frazzoli’s Lab, Robotics Systems Lab, Computer Vision and Geometry Group, Sensory-Motor Systems Lab, Autonomous Systems Lab, Melanie Zeilinger’s Lab, Soft Robotics Lab.

A scholarship for living expenses is provided.

Undergraduate internships at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory

An internship for undergraduate and graduate students. Takes place in labs at Heidelberg, Hamburg (Germany), Grenoble (France), Hinxton (UK), Rome (Italy) or Barcelona (Spain).

Research areas: bioinformatics, cell biology and biophysics, developmental biology, directors’ research, epigenetics and neurobiology, genome biology, structural and computational biology, tissue biology and disease modelling.

A scholarship is provided.

Applications are accepted throughout the year.

Aalto Science Institute internship programme (Espoo, Finland)

An internship for undergraduate and graduate students. The intern becomes a research assistant at one of the schools: School of Science, School of Engineering, School of Chemical Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Business, School of Arts, Design and Architecture.

A salary is paid.

ISTernship summer program (Klosterneuburg, Austria)

An internship for undergraduate and graduate students in biology, computer science, data science, maths, physics, and neuroscience.

The internship’s duration is two-three months between 15 May and 15 September.

A scholarship for living expenses is provided, travel and visa expenses are also covered.

Applications accepted till 15 February

Student internships at Aarhus University (Aarhus, Denmark)

An internship for undergraduate and graduate students. There is no fixed programme for this internship, the intern can choose any academic supervisor or department available.

Research areas: bioinformatics; design and systems development; man-machine interaction; maths; operational analysis; pervasive computing; philosophy of science and mathematics; software systems; theoretical computer science; work, organisation and IT.

Applications are accepted throughout the year.

International Visiting Internship Student Program, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong)

An internship for undergraduate and graduate students. The internship’s duration is two to six months.

Available schools: School of Science, School of Engineering, School of Business and Management, School of Humanities and Social Science, Interdisciplinary Programs Office, HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study (graduate students only), HKUST Institute for Public Policy (graduate students only).

A scholarship may be available.
