5 Habits of Healthy People
What does it take to be healthy? A strict diet? A huge amount of will power? Alienating yourself from family gatherings? It may seem like this to some people, but in reality, it could be a matter of just incorporating a few simple habits into your life...
1. When cooking a healthy meal, cook extra! Take advantage of those times when you’re in the mood to cook healthy and make enough to last you another few meals. Stick the extra food in some tupperware and throw it in the fridge for the next meal.
2. Make sure your first meal is healthy. If nothing else, at least you have made a good start to the day. You will be less likely to reach for unhealthy stuff in the afternoon. If you start the day healthily, you will be more motivated to keep it that way for the rest of the day.
3. Don’t worry about eating similar foods all the time if that’s how you like to eat. Start out by learning a few delicious recipes and become good at making them. It can help avoid that feeling of stress when deciding what to cook, and can also help when doing the weekly shop. Which bring me onto my next point.
4. Do a weekly shopping trip (and don’t do it when you’re hungry). If there is food in the fridge and cupboards, it will be eaten at some point. Making sure that supply of food is healthy, will make all the difference. It is also likely to deter you from eating out (saving your hard earned cash!)
5. One final closing tip. Don’t overcomplicate it. If in doubt, eat a wide range of whole foods and find which foods best fuel you and your performance! If you eat healthily 80-90% of the time, the other 10-20% will look after itself!
