4 first day at work fears and how to overcome them!
Starting a new job can be very daunting and scary. So, it’s only natural for you to be nervous and anxious about certain things. Some of these nerves might actually turn into fears. That’s why i’m going to address 4 of these fears right now and how to overcome them.

Not be accepted
It is only human for us to worry about being accepted into the office. After all we are surrounding ourselves we don’t know or are unfamiliar with. This kind of uncertainty will send the human mind into panic mode.
How to overcome it
What you could do is try and reach out to some of the staff prior to your start date. Ideally the ones you will be interacting with most in your role. You could have a phone call or two, or even invite them out for coffee. The activity you do isn’t important but rather the time in which you get to know them and build a relationship is.
Not enjoying the work
I’m sure this is one of the most common fears out there in the world for workers. Especially with a high percentage of people not actually enjoying there current line of work. It is only natural for this to be fear. You could be fearing that you’re wasting time or that you don’t know if it’s the path for you. But these fears are all natural.
How to overcome it
However, if you’re switching between places of work then hopefully you already have a good idea if you enjoy the work or not. And, if you haven’t and this if you first day in a new industry. Then go in with an open mind, absorb as much information as possible and try to enjoy as best as you can. Plus, even if you don’t enjoy, No job is permanent now days.
Being late
Being late is something everyone has done at some point in there life. Be it out of there control or not, it has happened. And, to a degree this is a fear that is present in every day work life rather then just the first day. However, it is an especially big worry for your first day of work.
How to overcome it
Beating lateness is rather simple. Plan things out the night before, get up earlier, get an earlier bus/train or leave earlier for work. Essentially aim to be at work earlier then you need. And plan as much as you can the night before so you have less to worry about in the morning.
Making mistakes
It’s your first day, you want to make good impressions on everyone and show them what you’re capable of. I understand. Everyone wants to believe they are going to be awesome at there new job and I’m sure we will be. But mistakes will happen, they can’t be avoided. So, instead just learn from them.
How to overcome it
They aren’t expecting you to be superman and if they are, then they’re expecting way to much. It’s your first day in a brand new office, with brand new people and possibly a brand new work load. Mistakes are bound to happen so learn from them and move on. And, if you’re ever stuck then just ask someone for help. They will probably appreciate you doing that anyway.
In summary
Having nerves and fears is only human, it’s what makes us us and it’s what makes you you and me me. You can’t avoid some of these fears so instead embrace them and know how to address them when they happen. Then when they do happen, you’re prepared and they won’t be to big of an issue.
