I really like the parallels you drew up here. Being able to grow requires the room to do so and the only way to create enough room to grow is to remove the old crap that currently occupies it.

Recently, I left my last job purely because I wanted to burn that bridge and leave room for a new one to be built. I would say I had to burn the mental bridges but by the time I left, the job itself had made an inferno from the bridge so i was left to just kick it over. This I did with a smile from cheek to cheek.

Burn the bridges and let things grow in it’s place, you can’t possibly expect to make something bigger and better if you hamstring it from the start by not giving it room.
