Our lives online…

I have come to the conclusion that in the world of today if an individual wanted to hurt another then no physical act would need to be committed. Everyone can be easily hurt by just the world of the internet and the digital age. Therefore, if someone wanted to hurt a person, they don’t even need to leave their own front room.
How scary.
The reason I’m saying this is recently I had a scare of my own thinking that someone had broken into my email address. Then I realised what that one account means to me. Wait no.
It is me.
In the majority of the cases today. People’s email addresses are the one master key to them. You get someone’s email address and you have them. From that one account, you can live with them. You can be them. Digital Identity fraud was never easier than it is today.
Think of that for a minute. Someone else, living as you. Doing as you would. Some criminal being you.
Let that sink in…
But what can we do?
I can’t recommend enough to you that you need to look into all of your accounts security settings. Make sure your password is secure, turn on two-factor authentication. Do as many methods of protecting yourself online as you possibly can.
If you haven’t heard of password managers before then I recommend checking them out. One of the best ones available for free is called LastPass. It’s a brilliant service for storing and auto-completing highly secure and hard to break passwords without you needing to remember or writing anything down.
Don’t let them become you next!
Digital fraud is scary. It sure was for me. But with just a few simple steps you account can be secure again.
