‘SHORTS’: THE NEW TIK- TOK COMPETITOR VIA YOUTUBE
From film stars to sportsmen to politicians… Tik- Tok is the new favorite of all. No other Tik- Tok alternative is worth the entertainment that one gets on this platform.
Recently Tik- Tok recorded 41 million daily active users outside China. That’s huge, in other words, an invitation to high Tik- Tok competition.
YouTube, however, seems a strong competitor as it plans to come up with a new feature called ‘Shorts’. Shorts will be an inside mobile- app element of YouTube and not a separate one.
Similar to Tik- Tok which is famous for its lip-sync feature, YouTube is planning to strengthen its rich catalog of licensed music. Video is the most opted platform amongst music artists.
Various companies ran a Tik- Tok competition analysis but none could halt its success till now. Facebook came up with Lasso app, Instagram and Snapchat tried new features and Byte, a newly launched video app attempted to compete with tik- tok but none could beat it.
In the last 1 year, Tik- Tok has been downloaded approximately 842 million times from Apple and Google app stores.
But YouTube is that one giant video app that holds the potential to compete with Tik- Tok. As per the stats, last year, YouTube earned $15 billion in just advertising revenue. Tik- Tok is comparatively smaller, it made $177 million from the entire in-app purchase in 2019.
The much-awaited YouTube feature, Shorts is expected to arrive by the end of this year. So brace up for some an exciting competition between the hottest social apps.
