Well home time today 😭😭😭 But just enough time to squeeze in some last bits before we go!

Off to our first stop and a cool drive parallel to the highway above us!

First stop, Brooklyn Army Terminal. The complex was also known as the U.S. Army Military Ocean Terminal and the Brooklyn Army Base, and was built as part of the New York Port of Embarkation. The Brooklyn Army Base was one of six United States Army terminals whose construction was approved by United States Congress on May 6, 1918, to accommodate Army activity during World War I.

It’s an amazing building! It’s now used as a business park for difference companies.

Here is the building back in 1949 :

It was even used in some films and TV shows. Here is a still from Orange Is The New Black. This scene is a flashback to Red’s life in Russia when she works in a spindle factory.

Here is the outside of the building. Which has also been used in film and TV.

Most notably from the movie Joker, the scene where Arthur Fleck is on his way to the hospital to find out the truth about his mother.

Managed to snap a few more cool shots of Brooklyn around this area.

Then it was time for breakfast and we went to this bagel store which is known for its Rainbow Bagels!

They looked amazing! Taste wasn’t as great though! But worth trying it out.

We then headed to downtown Brooklyn. This was more like a typical town, like Glasgow or Manchester. But only when you look up you see these amazing buildings.

We jumped into IHOP for a last milkshake. Not a patch on yesterdays milkshake, super disappointed.

Before we headed to our next stop we took the spare time to properly pack and sort the car out.

And of course ditch anything we didn’t want… Including Tina’s evil boots that killed her feet!

Drove to our next place and parked up. Saw these no parking signs for the following Monday as Law and Order will be filming! Thats pretty cool. Wish we were still around to come and see it.

Saw this little mail truck parked up as we headed down to the waterfront.

We were much further up the waterfront this time, up at the Queens area.

We mostly wanted to see this beautiful Pepsi-Cola sign!

It was built in 1940 and was originally installed top of the Pepsi Cola bottling factory nearby in Long Island. The characters “5c” were removed when the price of Pepsi-Cola was raised in the mid-1940s. The bottle design was changed to a contemporary design around the 1970s.

It now sits at Gantry Plaza State Park in the Long Island City neighbourhood of Queens.

Time for lunch and we headed to a deep dish pizza place and got a regular pepperoni pizza to share — Which was plenty! Helen enjoyed it more than Tina did.

Returned the car and then we got on our way to the way to the terminal 😭

We got through pretty quickly and Tina got excited there was a LEGO store. Sadly it was a small store so no goodies to buy.

But there was some cool NYC themed LEGO art!

Quick stop into duty free for some souvenirs.

And a final stop at the bar for our last (far too expensive) drink before we boarded. The service was shocking and the guy took ages to come and get our cash. We had a $50 sitting but had to go board, so we emptied our all our change. The guy soon came running over and counted it lol.

As we got to our gate B26 we noticed the gate had bloody changed to A3!! What a faff, so we had a bit of a panic rushing to the other side of the airport.

The flight was shorted this time, just over 6hrs. But it was a horrendous flight. Tina forgot to put her travel sickness patch on, we are both shattered and the flight was warm and stuff. At this point we just needed home!

We are super sad to be leaving USA behind. It’s been an amazing adventure. Already thinking about our Summer USA plans and our winter NYC trip! Can’t get enough of USA!
