Today we began our road trip in true American style and went for breakfast in the oldest diner in Williams, Arizona. It still has its styling from the 60s.

And yep.. We even sat at the bar to eat our breakfast. Proper diner style.

Helen got a breakfast burrito and Tina got the “Waffle Wednesday” deal.

After breakfast we explored the town of Williams. They have some amazing little shops all dedicated to Route 66 and the famous brands that USA have, like Texaco, Shell and Coca-Cola. Tina was obsessed with all the Coca Cola things, it’s one of her favourite American brands.

But we did pick up some amazing signs.

And Tina bought Vinny another little bib 😂

We walked around Williams for a bit checking out the sites. The buildings are really cool, like something from a western…

The above pic is where we went for drinks the night before, so it was nice to see it in daylight as well.

Helen even got herself a boyfriend. She was drawn to his lipstick apparently. 😂😂😂

Because we are in Arizona, its well known for its Native Americans. Lots of the shops had gorgeous Navajo Indian ornaments and dreamcatchers. Tina was thinking about her Auntie Sadie a lot today. Sadie would have loved it here.

There was even a whole shop dedicated to Christmas Decorations. So quirky.

This was our last stop of Route 66 for now. As we have to go off route next for a day until we come back around to it.

So again it was time to fill the car up at the Gas station. We saw this little beauty in a truck beside us…

We set off again to our next town which was called Jerome, a couple hours away. We had to drive around some bendy mountain roads, which was quite scary for Tina to drive. But the views were amazing.

We came into Jerome and it was amazing. Such a quirky little place embedded into the mountains.

We stopped here for a wander around and some lunch at the Haunted Hamburger.

Tina tried her very first Root Beer! It was nicer than she expected, a bit like a nicer Dr Pepper. Helen said it tasted like antiseptic 😂😂😂

We then went exploring the town. There was so many quirky buildings. But our favourite was this one…

This is called “The House of Joy” — it used to be a brothel!

After Jerome we went to a Ghost Town called Haynes.

It had some cool old buildings and cars. Not sure from when, but it all looks pretty old.

We even met some new friends, who had a bucket full of hay in their pen, but was more excited about the same hay Tina fed them through the fence. Funny little goats.

There was loads of old cars and trucks. But this was one of our favourites…

It’s an old Shell Gas Truck.

And then of course in true Helen style she managed to lure this gorgeous little guy over for some love.

He was such a beauty. Helen really is a cat whisperer!

We drove to our final town for the night, Sedona, and checked into our motel. We are here for 2 nights this time. Its a decent one tonight, its clean and the owner is lovely, his name is Thor, what a cool name!

After we got settled we headed out for some drinks. We found a local brewery so headed there. It was ideal as it gave Helen a chance to taste a variety of the local beers.

There was 9 on the menu and she tried them all. Tina isn’t keen on beer but they had some of her favourite cider from Austin.

A few drinks in and we met loads of cool people as we sat at the bar. One of the guys used to work for Apple, so Tina had a few geeky conversations with him. The other guy, his dad is a writer and blogger. He was currently in the middle of writing his novel. Really nice guys. Everyone is always fascinated with us as usually the places we choose to go are not touristy places, we like to mingle with the locals. 😉

Before we called it a night we got some bar snacks for dinner, tacos and nachos.

Helen wasn’t keen on the tacos. But it wasn’t a bad for a QSBB (quick snack before bed)

As we walked back to our hotel it was pitch black. It was so dark we could see the Milky Way. Its not often you can see the Milky Way because of all the lights. So that was a nice surprise. We then came across a Goodwill store. Goodwill is a large franchise thrift store, selling all sorts of second hand goodies. Tina always wanted to see inside one so we took a little wander in…

It was a bit like a TK Maxx, except everything was second hand.

Here is our route from today:

Early night tonight as tomorrow we have lots of walking planned around the gorgeous red rock Arizona mountains, so need to have plenty of energy. Already can’t wait 💪🏻
