The Spring Water of Hermes and Aphrodite

To bathe in the spring,
Blessed by Hermes and Aphrodite,
Would be the most exquisite honour.
But perhaps in the spring,
I have already bathed,
A blessing, or a curse,
Like the immortal child of the Gods.
The spring is my rejection,
Of the body I bore,
A rejection of impositions
Forced by those around me.
I am neither Salamis,
Nor Hermaphrodite.
For I am me.
