At Consultive Strategy Group, we are intentional about each individual we bring on board. Our company is growing, and as we interview candidates, we have to ensure that on top of having the qualities and qualifications needed to excel in our office and industry, they need to have an unrelenting, driven attitude. We are looking for individuals who are reliable, people-focused, and unafraid to face a challenge. Upon meeting Abigail this past October, we knew from the first interview that she would make an incredible asset.

A twenty-five-year-old Fall River, MA, native, Abigail spent her childhood dreaming of being a fashion designer. However, after high school, she decided to dedicate two years of her life to her education by attending Awakening Leadership, where she received certification in Project Management and Creative Design. Before joining us here at Consultive Strategy Group, she worked in a daycare for five years, where she honed her communication skills and mentally prepared herself for a career that relied on her interpersonal skills.

From the very beginning, Abigail dived headfirst into our Management Training Program. In just three months, she earned two promotions and is on track to be named Assistant Director by March. We’re shining a much-deserved spotlight on her mindset, goals, and aspirations to commemorate her hard work and growth. Enjoy this Q&A!

Abigail, let’s start at the beginning. What drew you to work with us?

My story is quite odd. I accidentally stumbled my way into CSG. I wasn’t looking for a sales position, but I had been without a job for so long that I decided to give it a shot. The opportunities and resources that have been readily available to me and the relationships I’ve built have been a game changer for me. A career that secures financial liberty is within reach, and I don’t have to take a single step alone. At every stage of the game, there is a support team above me who will help pull me up! We always talk about this being a “people-helping-people business,” and it’s a real value in this company — not just a catchy slogan that sounds appealing. The way I’m able to achieve my goals is by helping someone else achieve their goals. I’ve always been team-oriented and love to collaborate with others. CSG is truly the dream job I never knew existed.

Now that you’ve got first-hand experience, what’s been your favorite thing about our company?

The team spirit and camaraderie!

Do you think you’ll be in the business industry long term?

I’m nearly halfway through the Management Training Program! I’m quite committed to the cause at this point. I’ve heard countless stories about how this opportunity has changed so many lives. I can’t wait to be a part of it and offer the same opportunity to others in the future. So, in short, yes. I see myself in this business industry for the long haul.

How has your career grown in the past three months?

My capacity as an employee and leader has expanded so much and much more quickly than I ever could have dreamed. With the amazing support team I have at CSG, I’m never on my own. I have the opportunity to sit down with Kristyn every week and just absorb the wealth of knowledge she has to offer me day in and day out. I’ve grown in being able to coach myself and coach others, but more importantly, I’ve learned how to teach others how to coach themselves!

You’ve developed into an amazing leader. So let’s talk a little about how you lead others and your goals in this role for the future.

What is your leadership style?

I try to maintain situational leadership — adapting to the circumstance and individual. As a leader, it’s my job to meet my team members halfway, and halfway looks different for each person. I get to know them, figure out where they are in their journey, and help them achieve their goals in the best way that will work for them.

What values are important to you in a teammate?

Coachability, humility, and respect for authority. Everything else can be taught.

What motivates you more, working with a team or independently?

I am absolutely team oriented! I love collaboration, relationship building, and brainstorming. When working in a team, 1+1 doesn’t equal 2 anymore. 1+1 starts to equal 10! I’ve gone so much farther in different aspects of my life when I began collaborating with a team rather than working on my own.

“I am totally humbled by the success I have seen in myself so far. As long as I remain teachable, I know I will continue to grow and succeed. The day I turn away from friendly advice or guidance is the day I know my performance and success will tank.”

Would you recommend our career path to young leaders?

This is the perfect position for upcoming leaders! If you’re entry level in your career and are eager and ready to succeed and thrive, there is no ceiling at Consultive Strategy Group. Growth is limitless, as are the opportunities this career offers. There aren’t many opportunities to find this level of financial freedom without a degree.

“Never be the smartest person in the room. Always be willing to learn and SEEK opportunities to learn and grow. Ask a million questions!”

Can you share your long-term goals with us?

My long-term goal is to run my own show by June, send my parents on their dream trip for their 30th anniversary, and then retire them. I also want to finance college funds for my nieces and nephews fully.

As I mentioned earlier, we’re a people-helping-people business. My goal is to give back to my family, who are everything to me.

Constructive criticism is a crucial part of any success journey. How do you respond to feedback?

The most important aspect in this field is having a student mentality and being coachable. That also means immediately applying any criticism I receive. I know that every person I work with, everyone in my sphere, has my back and wants me to succeed. So why would I not listen to what they have to say to me? I don’t want to ever become stagnant. I’m always looking for the next area of growth and improvement.

Share an important lesson someone close to you has taught you.

I’ve attended church my entire life, and all of who I am can be attributed to my faith. My parents taught me the value of hard work and sacrificing for others. Specifically from my dad, I have learned compassion and empathy. My mom has led by example by never compromising who she is and never letting anyone take advantage of or belittle her. My sisters have helped strengthen my character and made me resilient. I have had many mentors over my life from my church who have held my hand in my walk of faith.

My best friend is one of my biggest cheerleaders and constantly reminds me of the goals and vision I have for my future life.

My niece and nephews motivate me to succeed to the highest heights I can reach to provide the best, fullest, most rewarding life for them. I wouldn’t be who or where I am today without the close people in my life.

To wrap up this interview, share one piece of advice you think others could benefit from.

Learn as much as you possibly can. Always put yourself in the way of opportunity. Remain humble, no matter how quickly or not you move through the ranks. Be grateful for where you are — even if it’s not where you thought you might be! And lastly, maintain a humble student mentality; it is what has helped me reach the position I’m in.

From your desire to positively influence the lives of others to how quickly you master new skills, we are constantly in awe of you, Abigail! You bring so much to the table here at Consultive Strategy Group, and we are eager to support you as you work to hit all of your professional goals this year!
