Its hard to square what you’ve written in this post on media/communications theory and actually engaging QAnon seriously when you read QAnon or engage its followers whether they be pranksters or true believers or somewhere in between — QAnon seems to be built upon past conspiracy theories going back decades combined with an alternate reality game style and social media. The social media aspect is new but that’s it. Its interesting for sure but is it anything more than that? Do the people engaged in QAnon have any more efficacy or substance behind them than the Satanic Panic people (for example) did in the 80s?
