Uber Alternative In Foreign Countries

If uber is not offered in the country you’re headed to, no need to worry, there’s a pretty good alternative ride-hailing service…it’s called InDriver! It’s been an awesome backup for me over the last two years and is often cheaper than traditional taxis and other ride-hailing options. Here are the top 5 reasons you should download InDriver, if you’re planning to travel to foreign countries.

1. Bidding System

You get to offer the amount you’re comfortable paying, period. If drivers are willing to accept your offer, then you’re off to the races! If your offer isn’t competitive enough, driver’s will propose counteroffers, which you can accept or reject. Either way, this is a pure market-based system, that completely levels the playing field, for not only consumers, but drivers as well (I’m looking at you, centralized taxi services).

2. Cost

The cost per ride is very reasonable, when compared to the competition. There’s a couple reasons for this. The bidding system plays a large factor, but so does the payment system. InDriver accepts cash in local currency, which cuts out the additional banking and credit card fees, and brings down the cost for all parties involved. But if you don’t happen to have cash, there are “online transfer” options available (transfers options are usually only for local institutions, like Bancolombia, not international institutions, like Wells Fargo or PayPal).

3. Safety

Not only is your card safe in this cash dominant transaction, but there’s also a ‘safety & support’ button within the app, similar to Uber, which I’ve never had to use, but offers peace of mind, nonetheless. Another feature that offers peace of mind and comfort, is the ability to choose your driver, based on ratings and experience.

4. Ratings & Choices

InDriver also employs a rating system, which I’m a firm believer in, from an accountability standpoint. Something else that’s nice, is the ability to select your driver, based on there rating or perhaps the number of trips they’ve completed or simply the eye test (you can see their profile picture). Again, InDriver’s whole mission is to be transparent and empower you along the way, and being able to make an informed decision about your driver, reinforces that mission.

5. Readily Available

As they say in sports, ‘the best ability, is availability’ and as we’ve all learned in this post-pandemic ride-hailing world…wait times are crazy long! Not only will your ride be inexpensive, but there will actually be “cars available” in your area, and it’ll likely arrive in 5 minutes. This has proved true time and time again for me, over the last 2 years.

When I’m in the states, I mainly use Uber, but I’ll have Lyft locked and loaded, just incase cost or wait time is outrageous. It’s nice to have backups, especially if you’re in a country that doesn’t allow Uber altogether. I love Uber, for the record, but again, the best ability, is availability, and too often nowadays, I have to turn to an uber alternative in foreign countries and that’s where InDriver fits in nicely.
