5 reasons why you are stuck

We all have shells that we hide in. To reach our goals and live the life we desire, we need to break out of them

So yesterday, i co-hosted a seminar tagged: Exit the shell and discover freedom. It was an impact session where i shared about the different shells we find ourselves. It made me realize that everyone has a kind of shell they battle with at every point in their lives. And everyday one has to find a way to break out of the shell in other to live up to their dreams and goals.

Some struggle with one shell while some people have to deal with two or more.

FEAR: This is the most common of all. Fear of failure. Fear of opinion. Fear of missing out. It can creep up at different times in our lives. You are never fully free of it but learning how to deal with it, how to manage it is the key. One thing i know that helps to break out of shell of fear is ACTION.

Fear hates Action. when you act on the particular thing you are afriad of, you stop being afraid. Fear hates movement. So whenever you want to carry out a program and fear creeps in, do it anyway. The more you do it, the more confident you become.

DOUBT: This gets to even the best of us. When fear fails, it starts reminding you of when you actually failed in project or exam even if they are not related. But if it gets you to remember how bad you failed at a project, you will start doubting yourself on the current project and that may even lead you to not carrying it out

PROCRASTINATION: This shell comes into play when the first two have failed. You will tell yourself that you are not afraid nor doubtful. That you know your strength etc but you will carry out the project next week/month/year with a sounding excuse. This is a coping mechanism to avoid being labeled a failure or a doubter by your own self. Procrastination is the thief of all dreams and its the worst because no one can talk you out of what you talked yourself into,except you. When you see yourself procrastinating, recognize it for what it is and try and do that exact thing you are procrastinating immediately.

LAZINESS: Where do i even begin on this? This happens when one has an excuse for everything. There is nothing one can do for a lazy person. You can try to motivate,inspire, encourage but when one is lazy and not determined to achieve anything, the best is to avoid being pulled down by the person.

BLAME GAME: This is a shell that most people use as an excuse. They began from the government, to the society, family, friends. Some even go as far as blaming God. They blame everything for their fate in life except themselves. They don’t believe that their dream is their responsibility. They don’t believe that whether they achieve their goals or not lies on them. So when things don’t work out the way you planned it, take responsibility and ask yourself how you can be better, do better to achieve better.

So those are some of the shells i shared about and a lot of people were able to identify whichever shell they are on right now.

Break out of your shell. It’s not a once in a lifetime event, it’s a continuous, conscious and deliberate activity. Every day, make conscious effort to live the life you desire. Take up the responsibility living your own life on the terms that suits you. Take steps that will lead you to your goals and every day you will emerge victorious, more confident and super amazing.
