I would also quibble about the Newspeak phrase post-literate. It’s just a nice way of saying illiterate.

I would differentiate those as post-literate meaning does not read where illiterate means cannot read.

I read — a lot. I do not watch television and haven’t for over 17 years since my husband died. I did get cable for a short time when my son was younger, but got rid of it years ago. As he is ASD and does his reading mostly online, he could be considered somewhat post-literate.
