When it comes to social media strategy, there’s usually a couple questions that come to mind when working with clients…

“Tyler, what are the best ways to create engagement around our brand online?”

“We’ve run into a plateau in conversions and we’re wondering what new experiments we can test to turn more conversations into conversions?”

“Tyler, you’re a millenial. Where the hect do you guys hang out at and how can we best reach you with our products, services, and offerings?”

If any of these questions sound familiar, it’s time that you check out the Ghost aka… SNAPCHAT!

Here at the DCLabs, it’s our goal to help brands, startups, entrepreneurs, and small business owners understand how they too can create more conversations that turn into conversions.

And in my experience, both from using it myself and from being a highly sought after millennial consumer, I know that Snapchat can be utilized to do just that.

No matter what stage your business is at today, you have the power to take it to the next level by diving into the Snapchat world.

Why do you ask?

To expand your reach exponentially. Here’s a few statistics from Bloomberg and eMarketer that will solidify my point…

Reason #1 — Snapchat users are watching 10 Billion videos per day on the application, surpassing the monster known as Facebook who reports 8 Billion per day. This has caused many companies who are currently running Facebook ads to consider walking down the same path with Snapchat.

Reason #2 — Snapchat has more than 100 million daily users who spend an average of 25 to 30 minutes on the app each day. What keeps users coming back each day is the fact that content posted on a user’s “My Story” is only available for 24 hours, creating a sense of urgency as the content will vanish after a matter of time.

Reason #3 — Marketers are spending 500% more to reach millennials than the all of the other generations combined and guess what generation makes up more than 70% of Snapchat users? That’s right, the mighty Millennials.

Still not convinced?

Well, it just so happens that I have some first-hand experience and success converting engaged followers into loyal brand customers.

Which finally brings me to the list that will have you a step ahead in this game of chess called marketing…

REASON #1 — SALES

So while many will argue that there is little ROI in Social Media Marketing, the fact is the numbers don’t lie.

Accorind to CMS Report

“the average smartphone conversion rates are up 64% compared to the average desktop conversion rates.”

So if you haven’t already, 2016 is the time that you MUST direct your attention toward becoming a mobile selling machine.

Let share with you an example of what I mean…

A previous company that I worked for had a substantial social media following totaling more than half a million followers on Instagram. p

However, one of their biggest problems was just that. They had “followers” and not customers.

So what did we do to overcome this problem?

Well, we rolled out a strategy strategy across all of our social media that included a CTA (call to action) in which we advertised a free coaching call for anyone who simply followed us on Snapchat. Additionally, we offered several free giveaways of eBooks and merchandise as incentives in exchange for these new interactions.

Above all, the coaching calls were the key because once a follower was willing to give you their time and engagement in exchange for your advice, we then put them into a bucket which we considered hot prospects.

Once this happened and we had a chance to interact with them on one-to-one basis via Snapchat, it was easy to discover specific needs and/or problems in a way that allow us to fulfill it with our products products and services.

In other words…

Sales!

And what business doesn’t want increased engagement with their audience that leads to more sales?

The answer is (and should be)…EVERYONE!

REASON #2 — RECRUITING & BRAND RECOGNITION

Whether or not a brand is dominating the conversation today is determined by much more than just having a product that fullfill’s a customer customer need.

Consumers desire a brand that they can fall in love with and proudly represent.

Snapchat is an incredible tool because not only can it be used to create engagement that leads to more sales, but it can also be used for little behind the scenes peeks that showcase your companies culture.

Whether you are trying to attract new clients, partners, or are trying to attract the hottest talent, Snapchat his is the perfect platform to display what goes on behind the scenes of your company or startup.

And not only does it give you a chance to see who’s interesting in your brand and business, it also give you a direct channel with extremely high engagement where you can communicate directly with prospects, fans, and current customers.

A key point to remember in using Snapchat is that it is the ideal place to explain your product or service to your followers in its simplest terms. Strategically combining these factors is a surefire way to develop lasting customer loyalty.

REASON #3 — RELEVANCE

A stunning stat from Mashable found that…

“only 1% of Marketers are utilizing Snapchat.”

Yes, you read that right…1% and seeing that number should get you very, very excited.

Keeping this in mind, chances are that the majority of your competition is either not on Snapchat or they are not using it to its full potential.

The opportunity this presents for you is to become part of the early adopter curve of Snapchat Influencer and Brand Marketing.

Just as it was an absolute game changer if you had a mobile website before everyone hopped on the bandwagon several years ago, having a strategic plan for your Snapchat will create some serious buzz around your brand.

I’m guessing you’re curious about the 1% of Marketers who are taking advantage of this incredible opportunity.

No worries, check out my last blog post which highlights these individuals and how to connect with them.

REASON #4: EXTENDED REACH

Now to answer the question that has far too many marketing gurus scratching their heads,

“how the heck do I connect with millennials?”

The obvious answer, focus on where they are at… aka Snapchat!

But let’s get into the nitty gritty details of how to make this happen.

The first step is to put together a social media strategy that allows for engagement millennials.

But how do you find your target market on Snapchat?

An awesome up and coming discovery app called Ghost Codes that I explained in my last blog post.

The second step is to reach out to them.

According to Forbes,

“62% of millennials say that if a brand engages with them on social networks, they are more likely to become a loyal customer.”

A great strategy to execute this is to begin to reach out to Snapchat influencers who have a substantial following in a similar market as you.

Many have seen great success because they “take over” each other’s Snapchat for a period of time and advertise their services.

And this is where hustle and strategic relationships comes into play.

The more Snapchat’s that you appear on the greater your potential for conversions will be.

An amazing list of 20 of the top Snapchat influencers can be found on my last blog post, so check them out, get connect, and reap the benefits.

REASON # 5: THE FUTURE

There’s no question that there has been a shift to mobile advertising in recent years due to the fact that consumers are spending far more time on their mobile devices than ever before.

On top of that, the time spent consuming content through a vertical screen as opposed to a horizontal screen has risen from less than 30 minutes a day to nearly 4 hours in just 5 short years!

Stats via Smart Insights

This is groundbreaking information for Snapchat with the app always being full-screen vertical video unlike its competitors Facebook and YouTube. In addition, vertical advertisements are thriving like never before on Snapchat.

The results speak for themselves. Which leaves me with just one question…

Why aren’t you advertising on this platform?

As you can see, Snapchat has built massive momentum and has all the potential to be the biggest thing yet for mobile advertising.

There’s no doubt that times are moving faster than ever before and the stage is set for you to take advantage of what Snapchat has to offer.

All in all, whether you are trying to find new ways to create engagement on your website, you have you hit a plateau in conversions, or you are you having trouble connecting with millennials it is clearly evident that apps like Snapchat’s are a key piece to your marketing puzzle.

BUT they aren’t the only piece…
