I just watched the public neutering of a good man Dave McClure and cannot keep my mouth shut about it.
First of all if you know Dave you know him to be a very passionate person who is a lover of people…That passion is clear to anyone who knows him…He is also a MAN…A heterosexual MAN…Yes a MAN…A MAN who from time to time has needs and desires of a woman…In all the news that came out lately there was nothing CREEPY about Dave’s actions…He approach women outside of work…In a bar…Sent them a private message…Was shut down and left it alone…Did not act CREEPY after that and stalk these women he just let it go…That is what MEN do…We pursue women and women dress to be pursued, wear perfume to be pursued, and in Silicon Valley there are MANY WOMEN who dress to be pursued. (For those asking any woman wearing a thong and has a tramp stamp passes for sexy)
Let’s remember this is the same Silicon Valley that gave $2MM in funding to an unqualified woman who was the Sugar Baby of her investor and then went on to get millions more before her startup failed in a blaze of fire and broken promises. (No I am not naming names yet some of you reading this can connect the dots)
This is the same Silicon Valley where there are countless women at Rosewood Resort looking for jobs dressed in their sexiest outfits while VC’s get rooms for the night with countless women…It literally is a known place where Sugar Babies, escorts, job hunters, and parasites looking to latch onto the latest dot com millionaire.
This is the same Silicon Valley where women play the woman card to get jobs and funding even when they have fewer qualifications than others deserving those jobs and funds…Yet the WOMAN CARD plays well these days…
Oh and for those of you cringing and screaming into your device reading this just remember this is the TRUTH of Silicon Valley…The UGLY truth about women in Silicon Valley…Yes this does not include all women and yes this is just a percentage of women in Silicon Valley…
Now back to Dave McClure who did NOTHING WRONG…He is a MAN and does not deserve this public neutering for doing what MEN do which is approach women they are attracted to and ask them out…He was doing what is NORMAL…He did so much good for women and men over the years and it is a shame this is how is legacy will be remembered…
As people look around at 500 Startups you will see many WOMEN in power who were all put there by Dave McClure a testament to his efforts to help women grow within Silicon Valley. He flew countless miles trying to create opportunities for so many people from a variety of nations and all walks of life…He really loved 500 Startups and did so much for everyone no matter what your sexual orientation was or what you skin color was…He was a tireless worker and sacrificed so much so that so many could pursue their dreams…Let’s not forget this about him as this is his legacy as it should be…
Dave my friend you are one of the best of the best of the best…You deserved much better than this…Much better…YOU DID NOTHING WRONG…
As the mob mentality over social media looks to destroy Dave for these actions try and remember there is a great deal of good he has done for tech startups and women in tech…A great deal of good…
