Posted this yesterday under the wrong heading (not hard to do on this BLOG!):

May as well weigh in on my feelings about trades this summer.

Hated to see JD go — for a myriad of reasons but do accept the logic. Didn’t get enough for him IMO. I do worry about Al Avila and his perceptions of how to fill needs in the roster. i.e. Lowe; Pelfry.

As to Justin Wilson: His value will be in his big left arm and as far as keeping him I would suggest no. Even though it weakens the chronically weak bullpen. You just might get something valuable for him.

Same with Alex Avila, who over achieved thus far and is showing evidence of that much more lately. He can help us more by going somewhere else given the circumstances.

I am a bit sad to say I think the same about JV. This is a guy you younger Tiger fans will talk about to your grand children.

Nobody will want Miggy. As Trump would say — -Sad.

I would also let Alex Wilson go if he was wanted. Kinsler, Iggy, Jacoby, Mahtook, Norris could attract some attention.

We are stuck with Zimmerman. Also Miggy and Victor. I would give McCann ONE more season. Hopefully this season has smartened him up. Playing MLB is not easy nor is it supposed to be.

You gotta keep Fulmer. He is still learning and the best thing is he wants to learn.

A minor league LHB OFer (Stewart; Gerber; Krizan?)will be called up next year. Too bad none of them are CF capable.

Castellanos is a keeper. Maybe a first sacker. Upton has impressed me even without the torrid hitting streak I have been waiting to see from him this year.

He has heart, knows how to run the bases, and is a persistent threat at the plate to any pitcher facing him.

Machado deserves a chance.

Boyd will out do Norris who seems to be stuck somewhere between space and heaven.

Ausmus is becoming a pretty good manager.

Al Avila has a huge job ahead of him. I hope he has help.

Further on JW: I don’t trust him against LHB. He tends to get sloppy with the strike zone. Also a bit predictable. Had a good year and his value at the trade deadline is far beyond his real value on the field.
