A contemporary building with an expressive massing thanks to the use of shadows and light
Light is an atmosphere-maker, adding more brightness to a picture, a material or an object. It is a natural emissary that stimulates sights and make objects visible. A proper lighting can change the atmosphere and mood of an object. A shadow is a dark area where light from a particular light source is blocked by an opaque object. Ezra Stoller is a magnificent expressionist of shadow and light. In reality, when a light ray hits an object, it bounces to the eye.

Shadow and Light, as displayed above in Ezra Stoller’s photograph can be used to alter the way we view structures and objects. Ezra Stoller depicts his projects in outstandingly commending lights, illustrating the fine lines of structural ornamentations of today’s buildings. For instance in Ezra’s photograph, light is solely reflected on the wet floor that allows it to create shadows, making the view and the size of the building enormous and magnificently appealing to the eye

Coherently, there are no wet floors in my photograph but shadows are evident in the photo because the light inside the buildings add up and reflect the whole structure of the building. However, both images were photographed at night, establishing a bright colour produced from inside of the building, therefore this allows people to look at these buildings in different perspective which illuminates the way they think and also look at architectural buildings. In both images, black and white colour is used to depict the clear effect of how light and shadow is used to illustrate the understanding of life in the city. Using shadow and light therefore aids in the practice of constructing and designing buildings.
