I’m also not a big fan of secondary CTA buttons on landing pages, as it takes away from the whole one page one offer philosophy. I do understand Campaign Monitor’s logic of including the secondary CTA though — they’re hoping that a user who’s still not committed to sign up for a free trial might view the demo instead, find that the service will be good for their business and come back to the primary goal of the page i.e. the free trial. So, even though it may seem the CTA buttons are competing with each other, it’s more like the secondary CTA is complementing the primary CTA.
