Let Me Spoon Feed Formation to You
Queen B better known as Beyonce’ broke the internet and made new fans with her latest installment, Formation, a pro-black anthem, tackling police brutality, her Southern roots, addressing personal attacks, and proving to most of America that Queen B is more “woke” than you or me realized!
Let’s address the police brutality aspects of the video. We see Queen B on a New Orleans’ police car, partially submerged in water, and at the end of the video, there is an African American male, wearing a hoodie, who is “holding up” police officers, with the message, “stop killing us.” Considering over 1100 African Americans died at the hands of police in 2015, this message is not only timely, but necessary.
Beyonce’ also makes a reference to Jackson 5 nostrils. It is no secret that social media spares no shade in talking about Jigga’s nose.
There is a direct reference to people’s ridiculous claims that she is part of the Illumanati. Um, if there is such thing as a “secret society”, you or I would not know about it. Stop the madness!
There is a direct addressing of people shading Blue Ivy’s hair. I never understood talking about someone’s defenseless child, but Beyonce’ got you’ll right, so all is right with the world.
Beyonce’ tells women to embrace and love their sexuality. “If you fuck me good, I might take you to Red Lobster” (My favorite line of the song for some reason (fix it Jesus). Beyonce’ is telling all women don’t wait for some man to “choose” you for sex, relationships, etc. Own your sexuality and change the tables and conversations. And in a world full of patriarchy and misogyny, who can’t embrace this, other than misogynists, and prudes?
Of course, racists are mad because she used Negro, because nigger is so much better right? (rolls eyes). Ashy black Twitter, Hotep Twitter, and Respectability Politics Twitter are mad because it does not “uplift” black people and make us acceptable for white favor (rolls eyes)
So in other words, if you love Beyonce’, you will love this. If you hate her or were never a true fan, you will nitpick and find something wrong with it. And there is the other part of the population, like me, who is neither a fan or a stan, but is rocking with this pro-black anthem and Beyonce’.
So in the words of Queen B, get in Formation, and bow down bitches!
