Stop subtly asking for permission

I get a lot of questions. Most of them are great, legit questions about starting a business. Others are thinly veiled permission seekers.

I feel like a lot of people are holding themselves back from doing what they already know to be the right answer.

Instead of just doing something they want permission from an “expert” first to do it.

“Is this a good idea?”

“Should I do x or y?”

The truth is, so many questions about starting a business depend on so many different variables. Most of the time, you really know the answer, you’re just trying to make yourself feel better and more confident about the answer.

If you’re gut is telling you something but you feel the urge to ask what you should do, stop yourself. Ensure you’re asking because you genuinely don’t know the answer, not because you need permission.

You know the answer most of the time, you just have to do it. Sometimes it’s hard work and you’re hoping you’ll hear an answer that will solve your problem like a magic wand or provide you an easier solution.

You know what you have to do. Go out and do it.
